Did you know that there is a personality trait that some of us carry (I happen to be one of them) and it is relatively common 1 in 5 people or in other terms 20% of the population.
It is important to know that there is such a trait. It makes us a little bit different and we tend to handle and experience situations differently.
For example we don't do well in large crowds or when there is a lot of loud music or noise in our surroundings. We tend to get anxiety or be misunderstood more easily. We may feel insecure or not understand ourselves. HSP feel peoples emotions, thoughts and energy on a much higher level than most.
Recognizing that you're a highly sensitive person makes a difference in relationships, work environment and social events. Once you recognize that you are highly sensitive it will be easier to cope and you become more self aware and have a deeper understanding of yourself.
Since childhood I found myself a lot of times having a feeling of not fitting in or feeling different. I would ask myself and wonder why am I so sensitive? I still feel that after a couple of hours of being out with friends or at a restaurant or event, I've had enough and the stimulation gets to me and I want to go back home where it's quiet. If any of this sounds familiar to you then I want to let you know you are not alone and this is actually a trait.
If this does apply to you, studies have shown that a Highly Sensitive Person feel more deeply, they like to process things on a deep level. Also they're very intuitive, and go very deep inside to try to figure things out. People who are highly sensitive will also have more empathy and feel more concern for a friend's problem. They also take longer to make a decision. They're extremely detail oriented. They are the first once to notice the details in a room, your new haircut or your new outfit, etc. Sensitivity to sound is significantly higher if you are a sensitive person you also don't do well in chaotic environment and you easily pick up on negative energy from people around you. If you get over stimulated by too much activity or things going on you tend to want to have some time for yourself. You are not the one to want to go see scary or violent movies. You can also get startled very easily. Highly sensitive people are also highly conscientious and well mannered people. They want to make sure everyone around them especially in their home is comfortable. HSP tend to take criticism very seriously and be reactive because of the traits they carry and not wanting to disappoint anyone.
