The Female Energy Cycle

Having our period is for most of us a monthly cycle that we accept but often complain about.
But what we really don't know is that there is so much more to it.
The female energy cycle or if you will the menstrual cycle is here for us to pay attention to our inward selves to see what is really going on in our own lives.
There is a magic inherent in the menstrual cycle. Each cycle provides a woman with the opportunity to understand and read the messages her body gives her for any specific healing she needs. Each cycle creates the opportunity for as much spiritual growth and personal development that she could want. All a woman has to do to connect with that potential is simply to be what is , her cycle, happening over and over.
When you realize the process of menstruation is so deeply connected to our spiritual energies, it opens up brand new pathways for healing and living life in sync with nature. Unfortunately, many women still opt for the Pill or other hormonal treatments to 'cure' the mood swings, to stop the pain, or regulate the cycle. This disconnects us from our natural healing and cycle. It stops us from accessing our inner well of power.
Ways to honor the menstrual cycle
The flow of the energy through the cycle gives us the clues for how to honor it.
Week One (day 1 - first day of bleeding - day 7)
During the first few days of your first phase we are inwardly focused and want quietness around us. This is a time to reflect on your new cycle and letting go of ways or beliefs and attitudes that no longer serve you. Retreat from the busyness of the world. Take time for yourself to set goals for how you'd like your new cycle to be.
Week Two (day 8-14)
This is what we call the high energy creative phase. You have more increased physical and creative energy. An heightened awareness of self and others. You tend to be more interested in physical appearance. This is the perfect time to take charge on things you've set aside. During this phase you will be able to overcome challenges.
"I feel happy, excited, full of energy", "I can do anything!"
Week Three (day 15-21)
You may experience feelings of failure or elation depending on what you achieved from your creative peak. Feelings of wanting to get rid of unnecessary things around you or in your life. Wanting change.
"Everything seems to be hard", "Nothing feels like it is working".
Week Four (day 22-28) Clarity Phase
Lessons from this cycle are available to be seen and felt. Either glad of where you're at with your life or fed up. Feeling ready to let go and surrender or feeling frustrated and annoyed. Less interested in everyone else, less available emotionally to others. Inwardly focused.
"I get it now, I'm letting go of this and not taking it into my next cycle."
Understanding the way of the cycles brings us an awareness of the flow of energy, the wisdom in that flow and the opportunity to be in synchronicity with that flow.
Symptoms of the Menstrual Cycle or rather messages from your body.
I wanted to share a story about a young woman who was 21 and had been on The Pill for seven years because she had bad period pain at 14. Her body was giving her a message that she wasn't hearing, that maybe she needed to rest in bed with a hot water bottle. She said nothing had worked, her mother even needed to take the day off work to look after her. Her body tried telling her that what she needed at 14 was to get her mother's attention, to get her needs met. Her whole story would unravel and she would 'see' that what had been going on in her life regarding her need being met or not, was manifesting through her cycle, her period pain.
Instead of taking the opportunity to 'hear' her body speak to her of her needs- physical, emotional and spiritual needs, and any imbalances, she was subjected to enforce the regulation of The Pill.
The crankiness, impatience or annoyance so infamously called Premenstrual Syndrome, that we may experience in the last two weeks of our cycle, is really more about the feelings you have because you are not flowing with what your body really wants you to do - that is slow down, withdraw from the busyness of the outside world and look after yourself, not everybody else,
In your premenstrual week you feel less interested in the outside world and desire quiet time for yourself.
I hope that this message was able to bring you some more knowledge and awareness about the menstrual cycle. Not only can we create life but we can re create ourselves anew each cycle. So make sure to spend some time at the start of your cycle to set your intentions so they can nurture and feed you during your menstrual cycle.
